The Face of Poverty

Try to imagine for a moment that your toddler has a serious illness and requires a lengthy hospital stay. Both parents are employed but neither of you have adequate health insurance. In just a few short months you and your family are homeless. It's a situation that most can not realize. The danger is very real and it occurs daily. The numbers of working poor families in the United States are growing.

Ocean County is no exception. Fortunately for some, The Interfaith Hospitality Network creates a safety net for families in churches and synagogues all over Ocean County. They are joining in the fight against homelessness. Thousands of volunteers are donating their time to cook meals, transport belongings, provide health screenings, tutor schoolwork, sleep over, and /or socialize the guest. This ministry allows homeless families temporary basic shelter and food, but more importantly, enriches their souls with the spirit of warmth and hospitality.

The IHNOC works to diminish the hurt of homelessness among its guest.
